Reading
TLDR: The joy of reading - science fiction
Reading is something I have enjoyed all my life. I am not a voracious reader by any stretch of imagination. But I make it a point to read two books every month. It was much easier in my bachelor days. Now between work, late night meetings, making the kids sleep and household chores It is next to impossible to go at the same pace as reading 2 books every month.
In comes audible.com which allows you to carry on with the reading habit without having the pick up a physical book. I have been an audible member for the last 10 years now and I have a platinum plan with them which gives me 2 credits every month, which roughly translates to 2 audiobooks every month.
Of all the little treats that I spend money on, this one gives me great pleasure, to get lost in the world of books. Some of the narrators are not simply reading the book, but they are bringing the books to life by their voice acting, tonal modulations and characters. I would put this aural experience to be somewhere between reading a book and watching a good movie.
I am a fan of science fiction books in general but I am also enjoy learning about history, personal finance, biographies and a mix of regular fiction thrown in.
